Upskilling Door Supervisor
Overview
For those wishing to renew their SIA Door Supervisor’s Licence and who acquired a Door Supervisor qualification prior to June 2010 or whose qualification did not include the physical intervention module (applies to some qualifications awarded between June and September 2010), the level 2 Award for Upskill a Door Supervisor (QCF) is an essential qualification.
Required Qualification:
- Course Duration: The session runs two days (Thursday-Friday) at Saxon Academy of Learning.
- Minimum age: 18
- LEVEL 2 AWARD FOR UPSKILLING A DOOR SUPERVISOR WITHIN THE PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY (QCF)
Goals and Aim of Qualification
For those wishing to renew their SIA Door Supervisor’s Licence and who acquired a Door Supervisor qualification prior to June 2010 or whose qualification did not include the physical intervention module (applies to some qualifications awarded between June and September 2010), the level 2 Award for Upskill a Door Supervisor (QCF) is an essential qualification.
Following a period of evaluation by the SIA and industry competencies, the qualifying is one of a series of licence linked security qualifications that satisfies their criteria for a licence linked qualification.
Those wanting to renew their SIA license and who hold a past award or qualification that qualifies as partial exempt from the full Door Supervisor qualification are the qualifying candidates.
CERTIFICATE DELIVERY TIME:
Run with in ten to fifteen business days.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Learners will have to show competency in the use of the English language (both oral and written); read and interpret provided assignments leading to clear, logical and understandable responses; there are no particular limits on learner enrollment. They will have to be able to base decisions on fundamental knowledge.
In line with the minimum age for a SIA license, learners must be at least eighteen years old to qualify.
Combining RULES
To be eligible with full qualification, the learner must effectively finish the two required modules.

DELIVERY
The qualification calls for eighteen hours of dedicated study time, teacher-supervised or guided learning. According to SIA, 12.5 of the 18 hours are set out for contact time either during an assessment or in front of a tutor or trainer.
ASSESSMENT
Trident sets assessments externally against the standards specified in the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for every unit.
The Centre for External Marking submits completed externally set multi-choice tests; Trident issues results to the Centre.
Knowledge testing and practical skills assessment comprise the assessment of the Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry unit; an externally set and internally marked short answer written test and an externally set and internally marked practical observation examination.
